Free AI Text Refiner for Clear, Natural Writing
ENGLISH TEXT EDITING
Free AI Text Refiner for everyday English drafts
TextRefine allows you to review English sentences, correct common errors, and experiment with different tones. Enter your draft, select a mode, and view the results alongside the original text.
This free AI text refiner uses English editing rules that run within your browser, rather than a generative AI model. Treat the output as a suggested edit and verify the meaning and facts before using it.
Start with the text you have already written.
Select the editing mode according to the task.
Maintain beneficial changes and review anything that appears to be wrong.

START WITH YOUR DRAFT
How to use TextRefine
If the text requires close attention, read only one section at a time. It is easier to write a short email or a few relevant paragraphs than to study the entire document at once.
Paste your text. Add your draft to the Input Text section. The Sample feature allows you to try out the tool before entering your own content.
Select the settings. Choose a mode, adjust the overwrite strength, and select an output option. Enter comma-separated terms in the protected keywords field when the words need to remain intact.
Run Edit and select Refine Text. Read the output (result) and use Compare Mode if you wish to review the differences.
Take your next step. Choose to copy the result, download the TXT file, or use this version as input for further editing.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT MODE
Match the writing mode to the problem
Select the model that aligns with the specific changes you require. Correcting spelling errors involves editing sections that may feel overly formal. The available modes depend on the page settings.
General Editing. The Standard, Humanize, Paraphrase, and Fluent options offer various combinations of word replacement and refinement.
Tone and style. Choose Formal or Academic for more formal phrasing, Casual for a relaxed tone, or Creative and Persuasive to explore alternative phrasings. Evaluate the results based on your audience and purpose.
Targeted changes. Grammatical corrections address identified errors. Shortening removes selected filler words, expansion extends supported terms, simplification replaces certain complex expressions, and SEO rewriting modifies sentences to suit web-style writing.

NATURAL WORDING
Humanize and paraphrase a draft with care
Humanize employs conversational language and contractions, while Paraphrase experiments with alternative vocabulary and sentence structures. Use either mode when an existing sentence feels stiff or you wish to compare it with a different way of expressing the same idea.
For example, using contractions might be appropriate for a friendly email, whereas a more formal style would be suitable for a business document. Neither approach is inherently better than the other. Therefore, read the revised sentence in context to see if it still clearly conveys your intended message.
While studying, keep reviewing words, technical terms, and key statements. Although synonyms might sound natural, they often do not align perfectly with your topic.
Disclaimer: Humanize is an editing mode, not an AI detector. TextRefine does not check for plagiarism and does not guarantee that the processed text will bypass AI detection systems.

COMMON ENGLISH FIXES
Correct familiar spelling and grammar mistakes
It corrects identified errors in the target text according to grammatical rules—including certain typos, missing apostrophes, and common errors in convention—while keeping the scope of the work focused, rather than rewriting the style.
For example, Grammar Fix corrects this sentence:
Input: i dont recieve teh email.
Output: I don't receive the email.
Capitalization, abbreviations, and spellings are corrected in the results. Complex sentence structures may require manual editing. If a sentence has multiple possible meanings, clarify the intended meaning before using this tool.

ADJUST THE LENGTH
Shorten or expand wording without adding new facts
Shorten removes selected unnecessary words (filler words) and attempts to prevent an increase in word count. It can be helpful for sentences containing superfluous words, but it is not a tool for summarizing documents.
The process of expansion lengthens the text—for instance, by converting an abbreviation or contraction into its full form. It does not research your topic, invent examples, or add evidence. devising original examples, or incorporating additional evidence that was not previously included. If no relevant rule applies, the sentence may remain unchanged.
Input: We can use it.
Output: We can make use of it.
Sentences can become long even without adding extra information. If your reader requires a more detailed explanation, write the missing details yourself. If there is a strict character limit, check the character counter and shorten the final text yourself if necessary.

KEEP KEY TERMS INTACT
Protect brand names and important phrases
When the exact wording is important, enter words or phrases separated by commas into the 'protected keywords' field. This method is useful for product names, brand names, technical terms, and specific phrasing that you wish to preserve in your content.
For example, before optimizing the snippet that mentions these names, include NexezTool, TextRefine, and WordPress. If it is necessary to keep the entire text exactly as it is, include a complete sentence.
The editor can also preserve recognized URLs, email addresses, inline code, and numerical values. However, be sure to check the completed paragraph. The protection sentence safeguards only its own text, not all the claims made in surrounding sentences.

CONTROL YOUR EDIT
Choose rewrite strength and an output variant
Determining the Rewrite Strength affects the extent of potential word changes. It does not guarantee that a specific percentage of your draft will be altered. If your original wording is already clear, start with a lighter setting.
Balance is the initial option. Cleaner applies additional abbreviations if supported, while More Natural tries to match selected word changes to patterns. GrammarFix ignores stylistic variations so it can focus on recognized errors.
The regenerate process reuses the same input and may offer a different choice of words. In some cases, it may generate the same text again. If this happens, instead of repeatedly forcing a rewrite, choose a different style or edit the original sentence.
Tip: Change only one setting at a time. This makes it easier to see which change improved the sentence and which one you might want to revert to its original state.

REVIEW THE DIFFERENCE
Compare your draft and understand the metrics
Compare Mode places the original and rewritten excerpts side-by-side and highlights the changes made to the sentences. Use it to review the edits while keeping the input and output options accessible.
To understand what has changed in the text, use optional metrics:
Output words: Productive number of words.
Words/ Sentence: Average number of words per sentence based on punctuation marks. Unusual abbreviations may affect this estimate.
New vocabulary: The proportion of unique words in the output that were not present in the input. This is not a plagiarism score.
Word count change: The percentage difference between the input and output word counts. A negative value indicates that the result is shorter.
To examine recurring words and text statistics in greater detail, use the Digital Text Analyzer after selecting your final draft

WRITING FOR REAL TASKS
Use TextRefine for work and study
Try to make formal or grammatical corrections to client emails, and double-check requests, names, and dates before sending them. For blog articles, giving them a human touch, paraphrasing, or simplifying the language can yield a version that you might prefer over the initial draft.
Summarizing can help trim down social topics or product descriptions, but it does not impose platform-specific constraints. Students can utilize academic research to refine their phrasing while taking responsibility for their ideas, sources, and adherence to course principles.
SEO rewriting is a formulation method. It does not involve keyword research, search intent analysis, or ranking predictions. When editing the title or meta description, ensure it accurately reflects the page content. You can then view the Meta CTR booster snippet.

SAVE THE VERSION YOU WANT
Save and reuse your edited text
The Copy action saves the current result to the clipboard. Downloading saves a simple TXT file that you can open in a text editor or incorporate into a publishing workflow.
Use as input to move the result into the editor once more. Save a copy of the original somewhere else if you want to compare later edits with your first draft.
If the recent output feature is enabled, the browser can save up to eight results for reuse. Clearing the history will delete these saved results. Reset clears current inputs, outputs, keywords, and comparisons; it does not delete the saved history.

PROCESSING AND PRIVACY
Know where your text goes and what the limits mean
The editing engine processes the text directly on your device; it does not send the text to an external AI service for rewriting. Enabling Recent Output will save the results within the browser, allowing other users sharing the same browser profile to view them as well.
Clear your browsing history after using a shared device. Furthermore, your browser storage may become unusable or get cleared, so save your important drafts elsewhere instead of relying on the history panel.
Adhere to the specified word limit for input text; this limit may be determined by the site. The editor also enforces a safety limit of 200,000 characters. If the site has enabled a daily browsing limit, that may also be displayed.

WHEN A RESULT NEEDS ATTENTION
Fix common problems before trying again
If TextRefine asks for text, check that the input text contains more than just spaces. When you reach the word or character limit, edit a smaller passage and keep the original document separately.
The result is unchanged. The applicable rules do not apply. Try a mode relevant to the issue or manually edit the notification. 'Regenerating' does not guarantee a new result every time.
The wording feels wrong. Compare it with the original text. Retain key terms, minimize rewriting, or keep the original wording. Excessive changes do not necessarily improve the editor's work.
Copying or processing fails. If the clipboard is blocked, use the download option. In the event of a processing error, save your input to a secure location before reloading the page, then try processing a smaller segment. JavaScript must be enabled for the editor to function.
